India's star professional boxer and Olympic bronze medalist Vijender Singh is set to take on China's undefeated, left-handed fighter Zulpikar Maimaitiali for a double-title fight on Saturday. This fight between two top boxers of Asian subcontinent will decide the crowning title, ‘King of Asia’. Vijender has been training in Manchester, England, with his trainer Lee Beard for this bout. The match between Vijender and Maimaitiali has gained more significance due to the ongoing standoff between India and China in Doklam.

WBO Asia Pacific champion Vijender Singh of India and the WBO Oriental Super Middleweight champion Zulpikar Maimaitali of China will fight it out for the title on 5th August at DOME at NSCI in Mumbai. The military tension between India and China has given this bout another dimension. Normally, a Chinese boxer as an opponent would not have aroused much interest, as China despite being a global superpower in sports, does not have much of a legacy in boxing.

The ten-round bout on Saturday, August 5, for which two titles are at stake, is expected to commence just after 9pm, which is prime time viewing on TV. Sony Pictures Sports Network has bagged the exclusive broadcasting rights to this highly anticipated sporting event in Asia from IOS Boxing Promotions. The 'Battleground Asia' will be telecast on Saturday, August 5, live and exclusive on Sony Ten 1 & Sony Ten 1 HD in English and Sony Ten 3 & Sony Ten 3 HD in Hindi at 6:30pm and viewers on the go can also watch the series by LIVE streaming it on the SonyLIV App or website.
