We Indians should be proud of our armed forces, our jawans and our officers. If we are sleeping safe at night, it is only because these brave men and women patrolling our borders and ensuring that our country stays safe.
Since 1949, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru & Shri Baldev Singh first issued their messages of encouragement & support towards our Armed Forces. Each year December 7 is observed as Armed Forces Flag Day. This solemn day brings to forefront our obligation towards disabled comrades in arms, widows and dependents of the martyrs. The “Armed Forces Flag Day’ is, therefore, an opportunity for all of us to express our patriotism and be associated with this noble cause.
The Defence Committee of the cabinet in 1949 decided that the flag day henceforth will be observed on 7th December each year throughout the country. Armed Forces Flag Day is hence observed every year on 7th December. On this day the nation and its citizenry reinforce their solidarity and express their gratitude and appreciation. A concerted efforts is made on this day to raise collections from the public.
The government is promoting this day quite actively on social media. Even our Bollywood celebrities have joined in the campaign to raise funds. Bollywood actor Aamir Khan urged his fans to come out and support our armed forces. He Tweeted:
