“He was a renowned astrologer and astronomer ,Varahamihira’s book “Panchsiddhanta”holds a prominent place in the realm of astronomy.He claimed that the moon and planets are lustrous not because of their own light but due to sunlight .

In the “Bruhud Samhita” and “Brushad Jatak” he had revealed his discoveries in the domain of geography, on constellation, botany and animal science which are conceptually advanced .

In his treatise on botanical science, Varahamihira recommends cures for various diseases afflicting the plants and trees.
