International Men's Day (IMD) is an annual international event celebrated on November 19. Over 80 nations celebrate International Men's Day, but it?s not always been like this. Most countries on the list such as the United States and the United Kingdom have only recently started to promote the day. When the observance of this day started, it was observed on February 7 in 1992. Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh revived the event and chose November 19 as the date to celebrate International Men's Day. International Men's Day was first organized in India by the leading Indian Men's rights organization 'Save Indian Family' on 19th November, 2007. International Men?s Day is a time for many people to reflect on the contributions, sacrifices and progress made by men in society.
Objectives of International Men's Day include a focus on men's and boy's health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, and highlighting positive male role models. It is an occasion for men to celebrate their achievements and contributions, in particular their contributions to community, family, marriage, and child care while highlighting the discrimination against them.
